pura vida y amor.

For our honeymoon, we traveled to the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica and it was absolutely magical. Here are some photos & memories:

Being underwater is magical. We swam through so many schools of fish, saw hundreds of urchins, a few sharks, and so much more.

We just sat at the front of the boat, it was incredible! Even a pod of dolphins swam along with us.

S/O to our scuba diving instructor, Remo, for giving us motion sickness pills before our trip because it made this boat ride so much more enjoyable (compared to others who got sick!). Thanks TamaDive!

Okay, so, I have to separately write about this one-of-a-kind stay. We slept in the “Getaway Suite” and we are STILL dreaming about this place!

🍍 – When we arrived, a fresh fruit cocktail was presented to each of us as well as a warm, essential-oiled towel to wipe our travels away. They took our backpacks straight to our suite.

🌴 – Our place was surrounded by so many trees that it felt like we were in a jungle with the monkeys climbing around ooh-ooh and ah-ing.

💧 – There was a huge walk-in shower with two rainwater shower heads.. need I say more?!

🥑 – The complimentary costa rican breakfast buffet was the best thing ever.

😌 – We also got an outdoor couple’s massage that put us both in such a dreamy, meditative state.

🍹– Every night between 5-6:00pm, there was a free cocktail happy hour on their private beach access. Sunsets, sangria, and rum cocktails with fresh fruit? Heck yes!

Yeah… favorite place we ever stayed at without a doubt.

Sámara, Costa Rica

Okay, so this little town was the cutest place ever!

Such a local spot with incredible restaurants, low-key beaches, and friendly people. What more could you ask for?

We didn’t plan this part of our trip so as we drove through, we simply fell in love, and booked the last room of a small hotel (ran by two badass women from France).

A local recommended this quiet beach and we are forever thankful. 💙

We swam for hours and walked this entire beach.

We spent 95% of our trip at the beach and we obviously hated it. 🥰

After living in Oregon where the water is always cold, we were so ridiculously happy to be in warm ocean water.

Casado (meaning marriage) is probably the most traditional Costa Rican dish. It is basically a dish of several things! So it changes from soda to soda (soda = local restaurant). Can’t forget those fresh fruit juices we got at every meal. Pineapple, guanábana, papaya, watermelon.

Last day and we were soooooo tired. After our wedding reception and all the planning that went into the past few months, we were actually ready to be back home in Oregon.

We came to this place because it was only thirty minutes away from the airport and it had laundry machines for us to wash all of our traveled clothes before going home.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.
